Left Amethyst in Croatia and on my way to Sweden! Reality bites
Last dinner with my sailing friends in Croatia!
Now the trip are over for three of us!
Now the trip is over for me, Ira and Anna! The boat will continue tomorrow with Jan (the owner) who’s coming down, Robert and Anders who will continue! I’m really jealous but I I’m happy for them! My work forces me home! I have to change work or something!
It’s been a lovely time and a good opportunity, thanks Jan!
Thank you to all my friends who have helped me during the trip!

Dubrovnik and our goal Croatia!
Due to some fuel issues and once again hard weather (up to 40-65 knots in the gusts) we ended up in Dubrovnik, Croatia!
Some of us will leave on Saturday morning and some o us will probably continue to Marina Frapa in Split!
And of course the border police arrived! We passed them and went due to our problem direct to Marina Dubrovnik ![]()
But we got a very cute police woman!
Sunrise on our way into the Adriatic Sea! And Albania in sight ahead of us ;)
At sea again ;) 9 knots towards Croatia!
An extra stop in Italy!
Something stuck in our propeller and once again to hard wind we made a stop in Rocella, south of Italy. We sailed in 24 m/s down Messina strait, the log showed almost 14 knots (a movie will come soon)! The forecast told us 7,5-12 m/s and we got 12-24 instead….! Once again my issue (or what it is) with the wind god tripped me…! Safe in harbour we checked everything and we are sin a few hours of again
Stromboli and vulcanic eruption when we pass! Shall I be afraid!
This is our morning ;)
Changed plans once more ;)
According to our weather forecast the wind should have arrived this afternoon. But in
So we took a swim in the Med, 23 degrees Celsius
Around us sea turtles, pilot whales and common dolphins swam ![]()
We took a decision to sail to Isola de Filicudi (Lipari islands north of Sicily) and anchor for the night. Then early tomorrow we hopefully will have a north westerly wind and can sail for real, to Tropea for a nice Italian late afternoon and night with food and coffee!
By the way I (Lars) sat and planned the last long leg from Tropea to the Croatian archipelago and realised that even that one is a long one. As a comparison for a sail trip in Sweden it’s from Luleå to Nynäshamn in one stretch
We didn’t anchor because after one try we missed bottom….! 130 meters from shore it was the same depth and 100 meter from shore it was 20 meters…! A slight miss and we had not enough anchor chain…! Instead we went alongside on old quay
